GDC Technology’s New Japan Office to Supply Digital Cinema Servers to Japanese Exhibitors Involving Over 1000 Screens
GDC Technology (“GDC Tech”), a world leading digital cinema solution provider, is pleased to announce today that its sister company GDC Digital Cinema Network GG (“GDC DCN”) , has commenced supplying servers to major Japanese exhibitors involving over 1000 screens. To date over 600 GDC servers have been installed and the remaining installations are expected to be completed by 2012. Xebex Inc, a subsidiary of USHIO Inc, and a leading system integration company in Japan, is responsible for the installation and maintenance of all of GDC’s servers in Japan.

Shizukatsu Co., Ltd., a leading player in Japan's urban leisure industry, has selected Barco's DLP cinema projectors to make its Cine Plaza SuntoMoon cinema complex fully digital.Cine Plaza SuntoMoon, located in the Shizuoka prefecture, has 12 screens and can seat more than 2000 moviegoers. Six of the screens have already been equipped with Barco digital cinema projectors.

Sony and TOHO Cinemas in Agreement for Total Digital Cinema System Solution
Sony Corporation and TOHO Cinemas Inc., the largest theater chain in Japan, have reached an agreement to install a total digital cinema system solution. Through this agreement, Sony 4K Digital Cinema projection systems will be installed in all TOHO Cinemas sites for each of the exhibitor’s 545 screens, not including co-operated theaters.

Another major Hollywood studio and its Japanese distribution affiliate -- Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan; another major Japanese exhibitor -- Warner Mycal -- and another major network service provider -- NTT East -- will join original participants Warner Bros.
