Barco wins exclusive order for ten Digital Cinema projectors in China
In the latest development of its pioneering digital cinema network, the China
Film Bureau, in cooperation with the China Film Group (CFG), have exclusively
selected the Barco D-Cine Premiere DP100 2k digital projector for installation
in a further ten of China’s premiere theaters.
The order is the fourth awarded to the company in the last two years, and the
first to be granted solely to Barco. It raises the number of Barco Digital
Cinema projectors provided for the CFG Digital Cinema network program to a total
of forty now installed in over twenty cities.
In recognition of the benefits of the DP100’s excellent performance and
reliability, plus the high level of support provided by Barco for its first ten
DP100 projectors (delivered January 2004) the CFG has again chosen the advanced
Barco Digital Cinema solution, this time for both new and upgrade installations
in the key cities of Shanghai, Guanzhou, Beijing and Shenzhen.
Installed to meet a deadline of November 20th for the national digital release
of the Hollywood blockbuster ‘I Robot’ the digital projectors are provided with
anamorphic lenses for the maximum large screen display resolution; but also with
ACSAR2, Barco’s Alternative Content Input Processor to allow for the theatrical
display of HDTV broadcast content planned in the near future.
Though the Barco DP100 has quickly established itself as the large screen
digital cinema display reference in China, another key factor in the decision to
place this latest order solely with Barco was also the high level of local
support provided by the company through its five regional offices.
As Mr. Cheng Yang, General Manager of CFG Digital Cinema Ltd. commented “A high
level of support is a critical consideration of all of our suppliers and so we
have particularly appreciated the level of support provided by Barco over the
past two years. Their commitment to ongoing installation, operator and
maintenance training, plus the immediate support provided through its many
regional offices has made us very confident in our decision to award this order
exclusively to Barco.”
A view reflected by Mr. Chen Xuxiang, Senior Business Development Manager, Barco
China Digital Cinema, who confidently added that “the decision of the China Film
Group to choose Barco as its sole supplier for this order has again proved the
superior quality and absolute product integrity that Barco is renown for.”
