The Wildlife Experience Brings RealD 3D To The Extreme Screen Theater

Giant Screen Auditorium Completes Upgrade to Digital Projection and RealD 3D for Launch of New Line-Up of Educational Content

RealD Inc. (NYSE: RLD), a leading global licensor of 3D technologies, and The Wildlife Experience announced today the installation of RealD 3D technology in the museum’s newly upgraded Extreme Screen Theater. The giant screen auditorium is celebrating its grand reopening following an upgrade to digital 3D projection and RealD 3D, enabling the venue to launch a new line-up of educational and entertaining 3D content including “Turtle Vision 3D”, “Sharks 3D”, “The Alps” and “Heli-Skiing: Living the Dream” presented in crisp, clear and immersive 3D on an over 60 foot wide screen.

“We are excited to open what we believe to be the brightest large format digital screen in the United States and provide our community with a variety of Hollywood, education and live-action content previously unavailable with our film-based projection system,” said Gary Debus, President and CEO of The Wildlife Experience. “Combining state-of-the-art digital projection with RealD 3D on a screen of this size will give our guests a truly unique moviegoing experience.”

Opening December 2^nd, 2011 with a special premiere event planned for January, the newly renovated Extreme Screen Theater within The Wildlife Experience features a screen over 60 feet wide and NEC digital cinema projection with 3D delivered through RealD’s XLW Cinema System. The projection combination is capable of delivering up to 12 foot-lamberts of brightness, approximately 3 times the brightness of most commercial multiplexes. The theater is also being equipped with RealD LIVE, RealD’s live 3D broadcast technology, enabling the projection of live 3D events from around the world. Strong Technical services handled the integration of the digital and 3D technology.

“The Extreme Screen Theater is one of Colorado’s largest screens powered by our RealD XLW technology, which has been specifically designed for large format venues,” said Kevin Faul, Vice President of Business Development at RealD. “This configuration delivers more light than other 3D technologies, assuring that guests will have an unforgettable 3D viewing experience.”

The Wildlife Experience introduced 3D in 2010 through a partnership with RealD for the institution’s Globeology 3D exhibit. A dynamic and interactive journey along a quarter mile path in an expansion of over 25,000 square feet of new exhibit space, Globeology 3D takes visitors on a virtual field trip around the world, enhancing how they learn about wildlife and habitat as they explore six 3D stops along the path where they can don their RealD 3D glasses and seemingly step into new worlds. With the addition of RealD 3D to the Extreme Screen Theater, visitors will be able to utilize the same 3D eyewear in both the theater and Globeology 3D exhibit.
