Doremi Cinema to Support “Lanyards for Love” at CinemaCon 2012

What do you do with those lanyards that hold your show badge at CinemaCon? For the first time, CinemaCon attendees can make a difference by recycling their lanyards to provide support and relief for cancer and heart disease patients.

At the end of the show, attendees are encouraged to bring their lanyard to the Doremi Booth #2515 where they will be donated to “Lanyards For Love.” CinemaCon lanyards will be collected, washed and delivered to Los Angeles area hospitals, clinics and non-profit agencies in an effort to ease the discomfort of post-operative heart, lung and breast disease patients. To date, more than 1,000 lanyards have been donated thanks to the efforts of Doremi Cinema.

“Lanyards for Love” is a grass-roots effort founded by Doremi Cinema’s Senior Sales Manager, Hannah Cash and her 12-year old son Myles. Last December, the idea came to them after Hannah’s sister, Amanda, a nurse and former Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, was diagnosed with breast cancer and consequently had to undergo a bi-lateral mastectomy.

“My sister complained about the amount of discomfort her post-operative surgical drains were causing her,” explains Hannah. “Her cancer counselor recommended using a lanyard to support the drain. That’s when my 12 year old son, Myles, reminded me of all of the lanyards that have come and gone though our home over the years. We knew at that moment there was an enormous opportunity to repurpose lanyards that are usually throw away after a show.”

“Doremi is happy to assist Hannah in her endeavors with Lanyards For Love,” says Michael Archer, VP of Digital Cinema. “We are a company that proudly supports our employees, their families and the community. We hope everyone at CinemaCon embraces Lanyards For Love just like the industry has embraced us since Camille Rizko started Doremi Labs in Southern California in 1985.”
