KenCast Exhibits DCDC Delivery Solution at CineEurope

KenCast will exhibit at CineEurope (June 24-27), the only European convention and trade show dedicated to the needs of the movie theatre industry, with over 1500 cinema exhibition and distribution professionals from Europe, the Middle East and Africa. CineEurope offers the latest major cinema releases, educational seminars, product showcases, services, technologies and networking with industry peers at fun-filled special events.

KenCast’s exhibit will focus on their EdgeSpan CinemaPro appliance and the EdgeSpan Enterprise server. Having recently signed a deal with DCDC (Digital Cinema Distribution Coalition), the joint venture satellite distribution operation between Warner Bros, NBC Universal, Lionsgate, The Walt Disney Company, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, Fox Studios and DCIP (Digital Cinema Implementation Partners), the contract covers installation of CinemaPro appliances in 1,300 theatres in North America.  Delivery of movies is by satellite, fiber optics, or hard drive and can be in 2-D, 3-D, and at high frame rates.

The studios’ digital content is presented by Technicolor and Deluxe to KenCast for delivery to all AMC, Regal, Cinemark movie theatres, as well as other theatre chains.  Together with existing satellite and fiber optic delivery, KenCast will deliver first-run movies (DCPs – Digital Cinema Packages), live events, and advertisements to 3,200 theatres of the 5,500 theatres in North America.

The CinemaPro is currently used by top-grossing movie houses in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, choosing to upgrade to state-of-the-art content distribution capability for optimal delivery of Hollywood movies to theatres. The CinemaPro is compatible with all digital theatre management systems, including most legacy systems, and enables delivery by satellite or fiber optics of very large movie files and live events. The CinemaPro also  offers simultaneous recording for "time-shifting" with its DVR features, allowing staggered delivery to multiple screens in a cineplex, as well as recording of the event for later play out.
