Dolby SCC2000 Secure Content Creator Streamlines JPEG 2000 Digital Cinema Mastering in Europe
Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: DLB) announced today at IBC that its Dolby® SCC2000 Secure Content Creator has been installed in a number of mastering facilities across Europe. Among the installations are Framestore CFC in the United Kingdom, Grid VFX and nWave Pictures in Belgium, SamFilm Group in Iceland and Nedci Pro in the Netherlands.

Kinepolis Deployments in Europe
Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: DLB) today announced that Technicolor Digital Cinema, part of the Services division of Thomson (Euronext 18453; NYSE: TMS) today announced that Technicolor Digital Cinema has ordered 190 Dolby® Digital Cinema JPEG 2000 systems, and will deploy 60 units for its North American digital cinema beta test, and 130 with Belgium-based Kinepolis Group, one of Europe’s largest theatre circuits.

Christie, a major provider of visual solutions for entertainment, business and industry, and Qube Cinema, Inc., a leading provider of end to end digital cinema solutions, announced that acclaimed writer-director Mani Ratnam’s much-anticipated feature film, “Guru”, starring Bollywood’s most celebrated actress, Aishwarya Rai, will have its world premiere in Toronto today at the Elgin Theatre Centre. The film will be screened on a Christie CP2000-X DLP Cinema projector and an XP-D Cinema Server from Qube Cinema a subsidiary of Real Image Media Technologies, an India-based leader in the media and entertainment markets. The event represents a major coup for the Canadian exhibition industry as Bollywood continues to develop into a major international force.

Dolby Introduces Advanced JPEG 2000 Digital Cinema Mastering Solution
Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: DLB) announced today that its Dolby® SCC2000 Secure Content Creator, a scalable mastering solution for JPEG 2000 digital cinema compression, encoding, packaging, and encryption, will be accessible by postproduction facilities, laboratories, and exhibitors. The Dolby SCC2000 features many of the same tools used by the Dolby Production Services Group to master over 50 digital cinema titles for major Hollywood and international studios. The unit will be offered as part of a complete equipment rental, training, and support package.

Arts Alliance Media, Europe’s leading digital cinema company, has screened Disney’s latest release ‘Chicken Little’ in JPEG2000 compression format, using MXF packaging and security keys in a format recommended by the Hollywood studios as the standard for digital cinema. The screening, held at City Screen York, was played from a QuVIS Cinema Player and marks a significant milestone in the adoption of digital cinema in Europe, as the first commercial screening to be compatible with recommendations of the DCI (Digital Cinema Initiative).
