Cineplex S.A was incorporated in Peru in 1997. In 1999, three innovative young executives formed The Nexus Group (Interbank Group), investment firm that recognized the potential growth for mass entertainment in Peru, and bought Cineplex with three theater chain calling it Cineplanet. They are today the largest cinema circuit in Peru with a total of 166 screens. In May 2005, Cineplanet expands its operation to the Chilean market under the brand Movieland, currently with a total of 45 screens. Cineplanet has programed a full digital deployment on both countries for 2013.
