Digital projection in Cannes has now become part of the show. Tonight, the 62nd Cannes Festival will begin its Opening Ceremony with a 3D digital feature film, the new Disney Pixar studios motion picture, UP.

XDC teams up again with expert suppliers, Christie for the projectors, XpanD for the 3D Technology and for the 3rd year in a row, XDC has selected servers by Doremi alongside with its CineStore Solo G3 servers.

“The French CST will again ensure the technical supervision of the projections performed during the Festival while our Digital Content Lab will offer “one-stop-shop” services to distributors including encoding, quality control and logistics,” concludes Alain Rémond, General Manager of XDC France.
Installations to support the 100 digital screenings of the Cannes Film Festival
XDC has selected Christie as the exclusive Official Supplier of the digital projectors. Details are as follows:
Film Festival: 7 Christie 2K DLP Cinema® projectors will be installed in the following auditoriums: Lumière, Debussy, Bazin, Buñuel, 60th Auditorium and the Beach Cinema. One 2K digital control room will be installed in the Palais des Festivals in order to check the digital copies.
Film Market : 2 Christie 2K DLP Cinema® projectors will be installed in Bory auditorium (which will also be used for 3D projections) et auditorium J while 9 Christie HD DLP Standard projectors will equip the other HD video rooms.
D-Cinema JPEG2000 servers: CineStore® Solo G3 and Doremi DCP-2000.
3D systems: 4 systems will be provided by XpanD with active 3D glasses
