Belgium – Angleur—Jun 10, 2005

DIGITAL CINEMA – Pioneer XDC has already presented more than 6,000 digital screenings of Star Wars Episode III around the world. With upcoming releases like Sin City and Madagascar, XDC leads the digital race.

As well as being Official Partner of the 2005 Cannes Film Festival, XDC is proud to have been selected as the digital partner of Lucas Films for Star Wars Episode III – The Revenge of the Sith. Along with successfully executing world premieres in Cannes, Madrid and Rome, and several gala screenings from Copenhagen to Singapore, XDC has offered state of the art projections to enthusiastic movie goers. As for exhibitors, the digital screen has raised more return than the 35mm.

“To date, XDC's 71 European digital cinema screens (that's over three quarters of Europe's digital cinemas), have shown this movie more than 6,000 times without a single failure…" said Bernard Collard, General Manager of XDC. “No scratches, no judder, no breaks, Cinemagoers all over the world are able to see the filmmaker's vision come to life courtesy of XDC's support."

Besides Star Wars, more than 40 movies are already available or announced in digital format in 2005. Exhibitors who have chosen to join the XDC initiative, are really enjoying the benefit of having continuous digital cinema content available to screen. Indeed, more distributors are willing to go digital in addition to or instead of 35mm. XDC will provide 4 digital copies of Sin City to play in The Netherlands and another 12 digital copies of Madagascar in the Benelux. Other orders will be delivered within the next months all over Europe. Hollywood Classics, UK distributor, has just announced the availability of 14 classic films for digital cinema projection.

"It's one thing to be a regularly chosen and reliable partner at red-carpet events" said Laurent Minguet, CEO of XDC ... "It's much more important to be a trusted partner at the real revenue generating end of the business - in those cinemas. And we’re reinforcing that success as XDC prepares to roll-out a further 100 digital screens across Europe by year-end and 500 as a target by early 2007. XDC, our digital cinema is today a reality!”
