Larry Jacobson joins QuVIS as President of newly formed Entertainment Division
QuVIS, Inc. is pleased to announce that Mr.
Larry Jacobson has joined the company as President of QuVIS newly formed
Entertainment Division.
The new division will provide QuVIS advanced digital imaging technologies to
those entertainment markets seeking solutions to the increasing demand for
high resolution, high fidelity imaging - including d-cinema exhibition,
gaming, large venues, production, post production, and alternative
programming.
"The formation of a separate Entertainment Division is necessary to continue
our expansion of efforts in this industry," said Kenbe Goertzen, President
and CEO, "This move will ensure that QuVIS remains focused on our
entertainment customers. We are proud to have a respected industry veteran
like Larry Jacobson to lead it .
Mr. Jacobson most recently was Vice President of Strong Digital, a division
of Ballantyne of Omaha Inc. He has approximately 30 years tenure as a
theatre consultant and exhibitor.
During his career, Mr. Jacobson has been responsible for the design and
construction of theatres, the purchasing and installation of fixtures, and
the oversight of existing theatre rehabilitation. As a result of his
involvement, he has personally been responsible for and holds patents on
several industry innovations in audio and theatre facility design.
In 1998, Mr. Jacobson received an Academy Award for Technical Achievement
and in addition, he was one of only four people in NATO history to be the
recipient of the Medal of Honor for Outstanding Achievement on behalf of
NATO and Exhibition. Eastman Kodak presented him with the Technical Service
Award on 1991. In 1994, he received the Stace Award by Dolby Laboratory for
the Theatre Equipment Association ( TEA").
I am excited about the possibilities provided by the technological
superiority of the QuVIS product line. QuVIS provides a true end-to-end
digital imaging solution, a solution that is especially well suited for the
emerging digital cinema market, Mr. Jacobson said. It was obvious to me that
QuVIS' business philosophy of merging the most advanced technology with the
needs of its customers will be a catalyst for success.
About The Digital Test Bed The Digital Test Bed was born out of the need for
an independent and neutral testing facility for exploring the new digital
technology that is affecting cinema exhibition and filmmaking. The
inspiration came out of the industry co-operation that resulted in the
road-show 'Celluloid or Silicon?', which toured London, Glasgow, Cardiff,
Bradford and Belfast in Nov-Dec 2000. There was also a call for a
UK/European equivalent to the Digital Cinema Lab, set up by the
Entertainment Technology Center in Hollywood, California. These two elements
came together in the DTB.
