dcinex to install Dolby Atmos at Cineplexx Donau Plex in Vienna
For the release of “The Hobbit”, the Cineplexx site will be the first cinema in the German-speaking countries with the innovative Dolby sound system.
Since the introduction of the first digital projection systems in 2005, the Austrian cinema market has already been very open to technological innovations. In this tradition, Cineplexx group, which was among the first pioneers at that time, will now equip the first cinema in the German-speaking countries, screen 7 at Cineplexx Donauplex Plex in Vienna, with the new Dolby Atmos sound system in conjunction with JBL speakers.
Dolby Atmos provides a realistic sound experience regardless of the speaker configuration or features of the cinema. Unlike other sound systems of the new generation, sound reproduction with Dolby Atmos is always hybrid, i.e. both object-based, that means positioned around the audience, and channel-based. In this context, up to 64 channels can be feeded individually.
“Dolby Atmos is a truly ground-breaking development in the field of sound systems and we are delighted that we are able to equip the first cinema in Austria with this technology together with Cineplexx," Thomas Rüttgers, Managing Director of dcinex GmbH said.
“As leading innovators in the field of cinema exhibition Cineplexx is always focused on being the first in introducing the latest technologies to the market. To-date, Dolby Atmos is the most modern and innovative sound system, and we are pleased to be able to offer Cineplexx patrons this unrivalled cinematic experience,” Christian Langhammer, Managing Partner of Constantin Film Group in Austria said.
But Cineplexx Donau Plex will not only be enhanced in terms of sound: by the end of the year, screen 3 and 7 will also be equipped with D-Box Motion Seats that so far were only installed at Cineplexx Linz.
