Aurora Cineplex,
located in the Area 51 family entertainment center and known for showcasing the
latest family-friendly movies, is expanding its digital presentation capability
to eight auditoriums. The theater selected Sony’s latest model of high quality
4K digital cinema projector, the SRX-R515P, giving them the flexibility to showcase the
latest releases in the highest resolution available.
The theater’s focus
on upgrading its capabilities was firmly rooted in the need to continue to
provide the local community with the service and presentation quality that its
loyal customers rely on.
“We’re excited to
bring the latest Sony 4K technology to our theater and our community,” said Scott
Satori, Managing Director at Aurora Cineplex. “Our customers look to us for a
unique experience and now we’ll be able to provide that on all of our screens.”
Satori has seen the theater evolve since he
first started working there at age 16. “It was my first job, and while the
current location has always been a theater, over the years the complex has
added auditoriums and attractions. It’s exciting to lead this theater into the
future with the highest digital projection standards. With all-digital
projection, we have more flexibility to tailor our programming to meet customer
demand. Our commitment is to create a
unique entertainment destination that keeps our customers coming back.”
The history of Aurora Cineplex at Area 51 is
unique. The name “Area 51” is a reference to the famed Area 51 extraterrestrial
site in another city named Roswell (Nevada). It also highlights the owners’
passion for iconic pop-culture and nostalgia.
The Aurora Cineplex management recognized the
need to continually evolve its amenities, and selecting the best digital
presentation was a critical part of that process. According to Satori, the new
Sony technology will enhance the theater’s ability to offer the Roswell
community a great out-of-home entertainment experience.
“We’re
excited to install the new projection systems at Aurora Cineplex,” said
Christopher Simpson, national account manager for Sony’s Digital Cinema
Solutions group. “It was the right product for them operationally, and gives
them state-of-the-art presentation capability, including High Frame Rate.”
The cinema’s
upgrade is planned for completion by mid-February 2013.
