Berlin Film Festival goes digital with Barco
Imaging specialist Barco is pleased to
announce that organizers of the 56th Berlin International Film Festival have
selected D-CINE PREMIERE DP100 and D-CINE PREMIERE DP90 projectors for all
digital screenings.
The 56th Berlin International Film Festival is taking place from 9 to 19
February 2006. After record attendances from both the general public and film
professionals in 2005, this year's “Berlinale” is once again expected to arouse
great international interest. In total, 4 Barco digital projectors will be used
for a full agenda of digital screenings in 4 theatres throughout Berlin:
Berlinale Palast, International, Delphi Filmpalast and Urania.
“We are delighted to be cooperating with Barco, as they really have a long-term
commitment to high quality leadership in digital cinema,” says Dieter Kosslick,
Festival Director. “We have worked with them during the Berlinale of last year.
Audiences were thrilled with the system’s performance.”
Based on DLP CinemaTM technology of Texas Instruments, Barco's digital cinema
projectors answer the demanding needs of the cinema industry. Barco today counts
over 510 installations in leading post production facilities and cinema
complexes throughout Europe, Asia and North America.
“As official partner of the 56th Berlin International Film Festival, Barco is
and remains committed to the development of the global digital cinema industry.
Our main aim is to drive the industry forward to enable film makers to screen
their work under optimum conditions, without the slightest compromise on
quality,” states Nico Vernieuwe, Vice President Sales & Marketing of Barco's
Media & Entertainment division.
