3D Movies Will Dominate Fall and Holiday Box Office Lineup

Movie fans headed to their local Cineplex will have the widest selection of 3D movies ever this fall and holiday season, it was announced by The Advanced Imaging Society in Hollywood. Eleven major studio drama, action/adventure, and animated feature films are set to be released starting this Friday, September 18th with Universal Studios’ adventure thriller, “Everest”.

“We have never seen so many major directors unveiling major 3D movies in so many genres,” said Advanced Imaging Society President, Jim Chabin. “The Hollywood ‘buzz’ around many of these movies has been very strong in recent months, and undoubtedly we are going to see many of these titles during the coming awards season,” he added.

Along with December’s highly anticipated “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” from director J.J. Abrams, there are over ten other major Hollywood feature movies scheduled for release. They include: “The Walk” directed by Robert Zemeckis, “The Martian” directed by Ridley Scott, “Pan” directed by Joe Wright, “In the Heart of the Sea” directed by Ron Howard, “Everything Will Be Fine” directed by Wim Wenders, and the finale to “The Hunger Games” series “Mockingjay, Part 2” directed by Francis Lawrence.

Two major animated releases are coming this season including “The Peanuts Movie” from DreamWorks Animation Studios and “The Good Dinosaur” from Pixar Animation.

“These are movies that were conceived and designed to be seen in 3D from some of Hollywood’s greatest directors,” said Chabin. “From now through the holiday season they are going to WOW audiences of all ages and make us all feel like kids again,” he added.
