XDC announces advanced hybrid (JPEG 2000/MXF-MPEG2) CineStore™ Solo G3 server.
XDC is proud to announce its fully interoperable and DCI compliant advanced
Digital Cinema Hybrid server - CineStore™ Solo G3 - offering both JPEG 2000 and
MPEG-2 play-back capabilities.
Along with delivering pristine image and achieving a very high level of quality
and security, XDC CineStore™ Solo G3 supports JPEG 2000 compression format and
all the security provisions foreseen by DCI: secure communication, secure Image
Media Block, secure firmware updates, secure logs and audits, secure link
encryption through the future CineLink II™ … and also FIPS140-2 level 3
certification. “Being one of the founding members of the Interop, XDC will still
support Interop watermarking, as it is already the case. Moreover the Solo G3
will be ready for enabling advanced DCI compliant watermarking systems.” says
Thierry van der Kaa, Product Manager of XDC. “The CineStore™ Solo G3 server
gives distributors the choice to use either the DCI recommended JPEG 2000 or the
widely used MXF Interop MPEG2 compression scheme. XDC is fully committed to
support its customer’s choices of compression technology.”
Thanks to its advanced automation engine, the Solo is able to control the
theatre environment. The room automation and different audio sources can be
fully controlled. The major digital cinema projectors available on the market
are fully managed. This enables the Solo to drive adverts players on the
projector. Different kind of alternative content, such as concerts and sporting
events, can be displayed through XDC digital cinema system.
“With over 60 digital movies processed by our state of the art facility along
with more than 200 installations, XDC has not only deployed the largest
operational digital cinema network in Europe but is well on the way to achieving
its stated aim of over 500 screens by early 2007. Sites currently using XDC
CineStore™ Solo G2 servers will be upgraded to CineStore™ Solo G3 at no charge
to the exhibitor.” says Bernard Collard, General Manager of XDC. First Solo G3
units will be tested by end 2006.
The CineStore™ Solo G3 is one of the building blocks for a digital multiplex
architecture. The exhibitor can start by installing a few digital screens in the
same venue and then add additional digital systems as required. Scheduling,
play-list editing, ingest of all Interop DCI compliant Digital Cinema Packages
will be locally enabled features. “All the different digital screens will be
able to be managed by one central server called CineStore™ Plaza. XDC
CineStore™ Plaza will provide remote control for all the Solo servers as well
as central monitoring and scheduling for the whole digital venue. A direct link
to the box office will provide cinema cashiers with up to date show and
play-list information” says Bernard Collard.
Last but not the least, Solo G3 will be connected to CineStore™ Data, XDC’s
central management system, allowing 365/24/7 remote support and maintenance, as
well as delivering enhanced services to both exhibitors and distributors.
