Christie DLP Cinema Projectors to Premiere Disney’s “Cars” Animated Film at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte

Christie, a major provider of visual solutions for business, entertainment and industry, announced that the world’s most popular Digital Cinema projector, the Christie CP2000 DLP Cinema projector, will be used to premiere the much anticipated Disney/Pixar animated feature “Cars” at Lowe’s Motor Speedway during the Coca-Cola 600 May 26 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The presentation will be the first multi-screen digital cinema premiere ever staged and will feature four giant, custom-built outdoor movie screens 115 feet wide by 50 feet tall, constructed on the tracks of Lowe’s Motor Speedway. The theater will also include a state-of-the-art sound system to be built specifically for the event.
Christie is donating the use of its equipment, the engineering support for set-up and installation. Proceeds from the event will benefit Speedway Children’s Charities and Association of Hole in the Wall Gang Camps.
Christie CP2000 projectors, recognized as the brightest in the industry and the leading DLP Cinema projector with the most installations in the world, will illuminate two of the four screens. Over 38,000 viewers will catch the premiere, for which advance tickets have already been sold out. The event will be attended by celebrities from the film’s voice cast, as well musical guests and other figures from the world of racing and entertainment. Appearances are also scheduled by Academy Award-winning filmmaker John Lasseter, who directed “Cars,” producer Darla K. Anderson, and other Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Studios representatives.
