Christie Projects "Monster House" in the Real D Digital 3D Format
Columbia Pictures' Monster House is the Second Motion Picture Presented in REAL D to use Christie 2K DLP Cinema Projectors
Christie, a leading provider of visual solutions for business, entertainment and industry, announced that Columbia Pictures' "Monster House" in REAL D Digital 3D will use Christie CP2000 DLP Cinema projectors at select theatres throughout the U.S.
In Columbia Pictures' Monster House, three kids do battle with a mysterious house that threatens anyone who crosses its path and which is determined to eat every trick-or-treater in sight on Halloween. It is directed by UCLA Spotlight Award-winner Gil Kenan. Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg are executive producers. Christie Digital Cinema projectors, installed in more theaters than any other projection manufacturer in the world, will be used to light up screens for these 3D presentations.
"The overwhelming success of Disney's 'Chicken Little', the first motion picture presented in the REAL D digital 3D format, proved the enormous power 3D has on the box-office," said Michael V. Lewis, Chairman, REAL D. "We're thrilled to work with superior quality partners like Christie to escalate the rollout of digital 3D cinema to mainstream levels."
"REAL D's market-leading 3D platform has dramatically expanded the possibilities and flexibility of Digital Cinema," noted Jack Kline, president and COO, Christie USA. "Christie is excited to work with REAL D to bring audiences 'Monster House' in 3D using a market-proven digital 3D solution that delivers dynamic, immersive entertainment experiences that leave audiences wanting more."
A Christie CP2000 DLP Cinema projector was also used at the world premiere of "Monster House" which took place at Mann Village Theater in Westwood, CA.
