CCTV Selects Dolby Digital Cinema for New State-of-the-Art Screening Rooms
Sale Marks First Dolby Digital Cinema Installations in China
Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: DLB), announced today that China Central Television (CCTV) purchased two Dolby® Digital Cinema systems to use in CCTV 's new state-of-the-art screening rooms. CCTV plans to host internal corporate events in its screening rooms, as well as offer tickets for public movie and event presentations.
To date, there are more than 160 Dolby Digital Cinema systems installed worldwide, including North America, Japan, France, Germany, Italy, Australia, and the UK. CCTV is the first to purchase the system for installation in China. The Dolby Digital Cinema system was specifically engineered for real-world cinema installations and offers superb picture quality, reliability, and user-friendly operation. Designed to meet the industry' s Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) specifications, the Dolby Digital Cinema system provides pristine images so that every screening is like opening night.
"We designed our new screening rooms with the goal of providing the highest quality experience possible," said Mr. Wang Xinran, from CCTV New Building Construction Office, China Central TV. "We selected Dolby's system for its crystal clear images, reliability of product and services, and the plan for dual JPEG 2000 and MPEG-2 capability and DCI compatibility."

Dolby worked with its Chinese cinema distributor, ACE, to coordinate the negotiations with CCTV. CCTV expects its new theatres to be completed by the end of 2007.To date, more than 50 digital movies have been presented on Dolby Digital Cinema systems in theatres worldwide. Recent digital movies presented using Dolby Digital Cinema in select locations around the world include Cars, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man ' s Chest, Lady in the Water, and Superman Returns.
