Venice Film Festival Selects Doremi Cinema
As the official digital cinema partner of the prestigious Venice Film Festival, Doremi, in collaboration with cinema installer Decipro, will provide all the necessary equipment and technical support to ensure a successful DCI-JPEG2000 digital movie file playback during the festival. Six Doremi DCP-2000 servers were installed in the main auditoriums and successfully integrated with the existing traditional 35mm equipment for both image and sound.
In addition to supplying the digital cinema screen servers, Doremi is also involved in the digital cinema mastering. Doremi’s widely adopted mastering station, the DMS-2000, has been used for the production of the Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs) thanks to the expertise of the two companies Bewegte Bilder in Germany and Digimage in France. A few movies were also encoded during the festival directly from HDCamSR tapes.
Doremi Europe Managing Director, Patrick Zucchetta, said: “We are very proud to have been selected by the 64th Venice Film Festival as the sole cinema player for all digital screens during the festival; this decision is a great recognition of Doremi’s leadership in the digital cinema market .”
Décipro Managing Director, Jean-Marc Couffignal added: “It has been a very good synergy between Décipro and Doremi to secure all the digital screenings. We were able to leverage our 25 years of experience in the cinema installation business”.
Mr Angelo d’Alessio, responsible for digital cinema at the Venice Film Festival adds: “ the reliability and ease of use of Doremi’s equipment together with the experience and professionalism of Decipro have made it a success for digital cinema at the 64th edition of the Venice Film Festival.”
