QuVIS To Launch New Post Production, Digital Cinema and Rental and Staging Servers at NAB 2004

Products Feature Native SD, HD, Graphics, 2K and 4K Masters with
QuVIS is raising the stakes-and the resolutions-in the digital disk-based server market with three new lines of video servers that support the playback of 2K and 4K data in addition to today's HD formats. The new introductions address the increasing needs of the post-production, digital cinema, presentation and rental and staging communities. In addition to displaying the QuBit® ST and DS digital disk player/recorders, the company will introduce the new QuVIS Studio Series(tm), QuVIS Presentation Series(tm) and QuVIS Cinema Series(tm) of products at the National Association of Broadcasting Conference (NAB-Booth SL1252 at the Las Vegas Convention Center) in Las Vegas April 19 - 22, 2004.

The new generation of servers employs Quality Priority Encoding (QPE(tm)) architecture, a patented process that has given QuVIS products a reputation for unsurpassed image quality in the digital display and post-production arenas. These systems provide visually lossless and highly efficient imagery plus 12 independent channels of digital audio. Standard and custom formats range from NTSC, PAL and HD through 4K Academy. The highly efficient storage provides practical options for electronic transfer and storage of high-resolution images.

QuVIS Studio Series(tm)
The Studio Series includes three variations: the QuVIS Acuity HD(tm), QuVIS Acuity 2K(tm) and the QuVIS Acuity 4K(tm). This line of servers, specifically designed for the production and post-production industries, offers a single platform with a Virtual Tape(tm) architecture that allows users to incrementally move to a digital disk based workflow. The Studio Series provides the ideal post-production working environment for storage, transport and archive. Designed to fit seamlessly into a high-resolution production environment as a disk-based VTR replacement, the system includes standard professional video I/Os, as well as high-speed data I/Os including Gigabit Ethernet and QSDTI. Software tools and an SDK for the Windows and Linux environments provide custom integration with third party tools, high-speed electronic transfer, automated QC opportunities and low-level integration.

QPE technology supports tomorrow's display equipment today with native real time playback of a 2K image from a 4K master utilizing the QuVIS Acuity 4K. Standard definition, high-definition and digital intermediate work at 2K and above are supported . A wide array of frame rates including 24, 25, 30, 48, 50 and 60, progressive, interlaced and segmented frame, drop and non-drop, allow users to work with images at their native resolution and frame rate. The first cost effective digital disk based platform for HD production and post as well as 2K and 4K intermediate also has an optional format conversion module that provides simple, clean broadcast quality down conversion to HD and SD. The Studio Series supports rigorous audio requirements during the digital mastering process with 12 digital and two analog audio channels including independent audio channel editing capabilities. A choice of 16, 20 or 24-bit audio at 44.1 or 48 kHz provides the user with additional audio and video mastering flexibility.

QuVIS Cinema Series(tm)
QuVIS' offers an end-to-end solution to deliver digital cinema securely and efficiently to venues worldwide. The QuVIS Cinema Player 2K(tm) and Cinema Player 4K(tm) assure pristine picture quality plus 12 channels of audio for multiple language tracks and subtitling options including native CineCanvas(tm) support. The QuVIS Cinema Series players have the ability to integrate with any secure cinema management system and support Cinelink(tm) local link encryption and optional AES data encryption. Simplified scripting allows for feature and advertising updates.

QuVIS Presentation Series(tm)
The ultimate server for fixed display applications will also be introduced in the form of the QuVIS Ovation(tm). Part of the Presentation Series of servers, the QuVIS Ovation HD(tm), QuVIS Ovation 2K(tm) and QuVIS Ovation 4K(tm) are reliable and easy to use, guaranteeing the same excellent image quality found in the Cinema Series players. The Ovation provides expanded computer and video signal compatibility and supports display of more than 50 formats. The systems team seamlessly with QuVIS' QuBit ST and Acuity servers to provide stunning HD content for trade show and advertising environments as well as for museums, trade shows, entertainment and theme park venues and corporate uses. The rack-mountable design can playback more than 10 hours of 1080i or 720p HD video from internal storage and offers expandable external storage capabilities. Real time 3D playback at a variety of resolutions is available with the 3D option. Other features include light weight (35 pounds), 1-1000x search speed, RS-232/422 interface for remote PC control, front panel menu system, industry standard video connections and a host of user-friendly functions.
