QuVIS Debuts New Digital Cinema Players at ShoWest 2004

New Cinema Series™ Features Local Link Encryption, 2K and 4K Support
QuVIS® is again leading the charge in the digital cinema industry with its new Cinema Series™ players comprising the Cinema Player 2K™ and Cinema Player 4K™. The new series of cinema players debut at ShoWest, the world's largest motion picture industry convention. Expressly designed to enhance the movie theater experience, the Cinema Player 2K™ and Cinema Player 4K™ are the first to playback 2K and 4K content in addition to today's D-Cinema and HD formats. QuVIS will introduce the new Cinema Series™ line at their ShoWest Booth, 236-238, at Bally's Paris in Las Vegas, March 23 – 25, 2004.

QuVIS supports an end-to-end solution to deliver digital cinema securely and efficiently to venues worldwide. The Cinema Player 2K™ and Cinema Player 4K™ assure pristine picture quality plus 12 independent channels of digital audio for multiple language tracks and subtitling options including native CineCanvas™ support. The QuVIS Cinema Series™ players have the ability to integrate with any secure cinema management system and support Cinelink™ local link encryption and optional AES data encryption. Simplified scripting allows for feature and advertising updates.

The rack-mountable design can playback more than four hours of 2K D-Cinema content from internal storage and offers expandable external storage capabilities and removable drives for ease of transport and added security. Other features include: trim profile; light weight; programmable GPI triggers (4in/4out); a front panel menu system, a high reliability design including redundant storage; the ability to monitor remotely for diagnostic and control purposes; industry standard video connections and a host of user-friendly functions.

QuVIS digital technology guarantees audiences the highest-quality movie experience whether they are attending the first or the one hundredth showing of a motion picture. Unlike film—which is subject to degradation from dirt, scratches and the jitter as it moves through the projector—digital formats retain their first run quality even after multiple showings over a period of weeks, months or years. Therefore, digital movies retain very high image and audio quality throughout a theatrical run.

QuVIS' Cinema Players employ Quality Priority Encoding (QPE™) architecture, a patented process that has given QuVIS products a reputation for unsurpassed image quality in the digital display and post-production arenas Digital media enables higher quality images to be projected while offering a significant reduction in the cost of producing and distributing film prints.

The 2004 introductions to the QuVIS line of products include the QuVIS Studio Series™ for production and post production featuring the Acuity 2K™ and Acuity 4K™; The QuVIS Presentation Series™ for fixed display, themed entertainment and rental and staging markets, including the Ovation HD™, the Ovation 2K™ and the Ovation 4K™ and the QuVIS Cinema Series™ for Digital Cinema installations, featuring the Cinema Player 2K™ and the Cinema Player 4K™.
