MOVING iMAGE TECHNOLOGIES rolls out its first Dolby 3D Digital Cinema Installations
Continuing its support for the independent cinema exhibitor, Moving iMage Technologies has installed its first Dolby® 3D Digital Cinema systems at Cinema City in Anaheim Hills, CA and Whittier Village in Whittier, CA; as well as Maya Cinemas’ flagship theatre in Salinas, CA. These independent cinema chains debuted Paramount Pictures “Beowulf” in digital 3D using Barco DP100 D-Cinema projectors, Dolby’s 3D Digital Cinema systems, and the Dolby Show Store/Show Player digital cinema servers. The most recent installations complete Cinema City’s transformation to all-digital, with 13 Dolby Digital Cinema servers and two Dolby 3D systems. Four of Whittier Village’s eight screens are now fitted with Dolby Digital Cinema servers, with additional installations planned for early 2008.
Rydt Entertainment (a division of Moving image Technologies) was the seller, integrator and installer for all of these Dolby 3D Digital Cinema systems. “Our customers were very pleased with the ease with which the Dolby 3D components were added into the Barco projectors we had previously installed. The image quality was incredible! This continues to prove that 3D digital cinema adds tremendous value to the independent exhibitor,” said Jerry Van de Rydt, president of Rydt Entertainment.
Included in the installations were MiT’s other innovative products such as the iMage Mover™ track system allowing for both digital and 35mm projection systems to be moved effortlessly to the center of the port windows and making service of either system much easier. MiT also used its AIU (Automation Interface Unit) for controlling all booth and auditorium functions as well as interfacing with the Dolby Digital Cinema servers.
“It’s a tremendous help to Dolby and to exhibitors to have a company like Rydt/MiT perform all of the procurement, design, integration and installation duties,” said John Carey, Vice President of Marketing, Dolby Laboratories. “It frees the exhibitor to focus on their business and know that all their projection and sound technology needs are taken care of by some of the best people in the business.”
