Arts Alliance Digital Cinema Screens 'Revenge of the Sith' in Digital from QuVIS Cinema Player

Arts Alliance Digital Cinema, the pioneering provider of digital cinema services, is managing the digital screening of the latest installment of Star Wars - 'Episode III: Revenge of the Sith' at the Ritzy Cinema, Brixton.

The Ritzy screening will be using a QuVIS Cinema Player and a DLP Cinema projector from Digital Projection. This is the first commercial screening in the UK using the QuVIS Cinema Player which will be supplied to all cinemas participating in the UK Film Council Digital Screen Network.

'Star Wars: Episode III, revenge Of The Sith', is the second film in George Lucas's anthology to be shot and edited entirely as digital video, yet few cinema-goers are able to watch it in digital format because only a limited number of cinemas are currently equipped to handle digital films.

"Star Wars is set to be one of the biggest films of the year and given that it has been shot and edited digitally it seems only right that it should be screened digitally," said Howard Kiedaisch, president Arts Alliance Digital Cinema. "We're delighted to be able to give people in Britain access to Hollywood blockbusters as well as more specialised films via digital."

Arts Alliance Digital Cinema (AADC) has been selected by the UK Film Council to install and run the world's first large scale digital screen network. AADC will provide a network of up to 250 screens throughout the UK. Each cinema will guarantee a minimum number of specialised film shows a week in return for the equipment.

The Ritzy, in the heart of vibrant Brixton, is London's busiest and biggest independent cinema with five screens. Screenings of the best of world cinema are backed up by regular Sunday matinees, a choice of two different films for kids on Saturdays, monthly Mother and Baby screenings and a host of one-off events.
