Dolby Appoints Tim Schafbuch as Digital Cinema Sales Manager
Schafbuch to Tap 16 Years of Experience in Sales and Marketing for THX Products and Services
olby announced today that it has appointed Tim
Schafbuch as its new Digital Cinema Sales Manager. In this role, Schafbuch will
be a primary point of contact for exhibitors, distributors, and other vendors
using Dolby’s Digital Cinema products. In addition to delivering ongoing
customer service and support, he will also provide customer feedback to Dolby’s
Motion Picture Group, which will in turn contribute to the company’s overall
marketing strategy.
Prior to Dolby, Schafbuch was a senior executive at Lucasfilm Ltd., where he
served as Director of THX Digital Cinema and Director of Sales for THX Cinema.
At Lucasfilm, Schafbuch played an active role increasing the penetration of
worldwide THX-certified theatres by 40 percent annually. He also oversaw the
deployment of digital equipment for the worldwide digital cinema presentations
of Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace and Star Wars: Episode II --
Attack of the Clones.
As a leader in cinema certification programs, Schafbuch served as Director of
Theatre Alignment Program (TAP) for eight years at Lucasfilm. Under his
leadership, he spearheaded industry-leading quality assurance services for
motion picture studios and filmmakers and helped launch the industry’s first
theatre rating system for presentation quality, as well as the first digital
cinema certification program, which standardized acoustical and technical
standards for digital cinema presentation systems.
