QuVIS Displays Complete Wavelet-Based Digital Cinema Solution at ShowEast
2004
uVIS selected ShowEast 2004 as the ideal venue to
display the latest advancements in digital cinema technology. The company is
showcasing its newest wavelet based server technology with the QuVIS Cinema
Player™ and newly-introduced QuShow™, a complete content management solution.
QuVIS makes the introductions at ShowEast booth #1209, at the Orlando World
Center Marriott, October 26 - 28, 2004.
Enhancements to the company’s already well-established leadership position
include new features for mastering, encryption, digital content management,
in-theatre tests and cinema playback for formats up to 2K—including realtime 2K
playback from a 4K master.
A significant introduction at the show is the QuVIS solution to in-theatre
content management, QuShow™. QuShow will be available as either a stand-alone
application or a module to integrate with existing theatre management systems.
QuShow provides seamless and secure content management, including redundancy,
key management and reporting. Designed for compliance with the eventual DCI
specification, QuShow combines both flexibility and ease of use.
QuVIS has been active in Digital Cinema since the first trials in 1998. Wavelet
technology was at that time a little-explored foundation for digital encryption
and transport of video. Today, however, the Digital Cinema industry is
recognizing the advantages of wavelets over MPEG-based compressions schemes. The
exceptional image quality, scaleability and efficiency available only via
wavelet-based compression is the industry’s choice for distribution. QuVIS
servers support wavelet-based Quality Priority Encoding (QPE™) and will offer
support for wavelet-based JPEG2000 once the final DCI specification becomes
available. QuVIS technology offers the only wavelet-based server in use for
Digital Cinema feature film screenings today.
QuVIS solutions on display during ShowEast include QuShow™ in-theatre content
management; the QuVIS Acuity™ designed for efficient digital mastering of
content ranging from NTSC, PAL and HD to 2K, 4K and beyond; and the QuVIS Cinema
Player, expressly designed for simple and reliable in-theatre display. All QuVIS
servers employ Quality Priority Encoding architecture, a patented wavelet based
process that has given QuVIS products a reputation for unsurpassed image quality
in the digital display and post-production arenas. Digital media enables
higher-quality images to be projected while offering a significant reduction in
the cost of producing and distributing film prints.
