IMAGICA selects Barco D-Cine Premiere DP100 for its screening room
Imagica, Japan’s leading post-production
facility, recently chose the Barco D-Cine Premiere DP100 2k digital projector
for its screening room.
Imagica, one of the largest motion picture film laboratories and high-end video
post-production facilities in Japan, started their film development activities
in early 1930. Imagica leads the Japanese Post Production community, and is a
true industry leader when it comes to adopting new cutting edge (digital)
technologies.
In the latest development of its Digital Mastering Technology, IMAGICA has
recently selected the Barco D-Cine Premiere DP100, based on 2k DLP CinemaTM
technology from Texas Instruments, for its screening room. In this environment,
IMAGICA is certain that the digital projection can reproduce the full color
gamut of the final film print. This way, cinematographers can enhance the look
of their films working with color-accurate, high-contrast images.
Mr. Kohei Fukuhara and Mr. Ken Okada, head of Digital Cinema Technical Staff
further explain: “Barco is certainly recognized as a technology leader amongst
professional users in the post-production community. With the D-Cine Premiere
DP100, there is no worry about image quality loss during the image processing
work even after repetitive grading. In this environment, cinematographers have
the right technology to do the creative work knowing the final feel of the film
print. Our engineers strongly appreciate the DP100 color management capability
and accuracy. DP100's Color Management tool, D-Cine Communicator software, is
easy to operate thanks to its very user friendly User Interface. On top of this,
the Switcher ACSAR2 gives a lot of opportunities when connecting Alternative
Content sources."
Nico Vernieuwe, VP Digital Cinema, Barco Media & Entertainment further
elaborates: “Barco only recently announced the increased buy-in from the Post
Production Market for 2k DLP CinemaTM projection solutions. Further to the
announcements earlier this month regarding amongst others EFILM (US) and Soho
Images (UK), we see this trend growing strongly. Next to Imagica, Film Units and
Universal Studio in New Zealand and Midnight Transfer, Arri/Warner Bros and
Capital FX in the UK have very recently also chosen the state-of-the-art D-Cine
Premiere DP100 for their post-production facilities.”
