Arts Alliance Media Scores with 50th Movie on UKFC Digital Screen Network
Arts Alliance Media (AAM), Europe’s leading provider of digital film distribution services, announces Momentum Pictures’ District 13, opening in the UK today, as the 50th feature title they have digitally prepared (encoded and encrypted), delivered to and shown on the UK Film Council’s Digital Screen Network (DSN), Europe’s first and largest 2K digital cinema network.
Fiona Deans, AAM’s Director of Digital Cinema said, “This digital cinema landmark reflects the growing popularity of the UK Digital Screen Network and the proven reliability of our digital content preparation and distribution. We will continue to push the envelope and create new and better ways of servicing and supporting content owners and exhibitors.”
AAM subsidiary Arts Alliance Digital Cinema (AADC) was selected to rollout the the UK Film Council DSN, a $20m contract to install and operate 240 digital screens, Europe’s largest 2k digital cinema network, in February 2005. To date, AAM have installed 56 UK screens with 2K digital projection systems. Since the beginning of the rollout in October 2005, over 11,000 digital shows have been played on the network.
Recent titles shown on the DSN include: The Wild (Buena Vista), Hard Candy (Lionsgate), Over the Hedge (UIP), Cave of the Yellow Dog (Tartan Films), A Throw of the Dice (BFI), Adrift (Pathé), Walmart – The High Cost of Low Price (Tartan), Time to Leave/Le Temps Qui Reste (Artificial Eye), Wah-Wah (Lionsgate), 36 Quai des Orfévres (Tartan Films) and Love and Hate (Verve Pictures). Upcoming titles include Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (Buena Vista), Viva Zapatero (Dogwoof Pictures) and Awesome; I F**kin’ Shot That! (Revolver).
In April 2006, AAM expanded its digital cinema network into continental Europe, beginning with a 10-screen trial rollout in Norway.
