Barco enters a new dimension with “Monster House 3D”
Barco 2K digital cinema projectors used in REAL D Digital 3D Cinema presentation of Columbia Pictures’ “Monster House 3D.”
Barco, global leader in digital cinema visualization, today announced that Barco digital cinema projectors are being used for Columbia Pictures’ “Monster House 3D,” which is being presented in the REAL D Digital 3D format at select theatres nationwide. “Monster House” opened in the USA July 21 and was number two at the box office over the weekend.
Barco installed 21 digital projectors for the launch of “Monster House,” adding to the 32 Barco digital cinema projectors previously deployed for REAL D Digital 3D Cinema presentations. Thirty percent of projectors deployed as part of the REAL D Digital 3D Cinema rollout domestically are manufactured by Barco.
Recognized as a worldwide reference in Digital Cinema, Barco’s 2K digital cinema projectors are based on Texas Instruments’ DLP CinemaTM technology and ensure optimum performance and reliability through their integrated light path and digital processing.
Kodak’s fully–networked Digital Cinema Operating System (DCOS) will drive the entire digital cinema workflow of the system, including content delivery, storage, installation, service and support, Kodak also provides the packaging, preparation and delivery of all feature content.
3D feature presentations are one of the drivers for the purchase of Barco digital cinema projectors. Additionally, Barco digital cinema projectors provide the power and clarity of “digital” when used for regular 2D digital cinema presentations.
