Barco Digital Cinema has announced that the Digital Cinema rollout has begun
with the first quantity buy and implementation. Boeing Digital Cinema will
purchase a sizeable quantity of Barco’s next generation high-performance D-Cine
Premiere Digital Cinema projectors. This is the first purchase of its kind in
the industry. Boeing Digital Cinema is a business of The Boeing Company (NYSE:
BA).
Boeing Digital Cinema offers a direct-to-cinema delivery system, which securely
transmits first-run movies and alternative programming via satellite and
fiber-optic network.
Barco’s new digital cinema projector combines exclusive Barco designed features
along with an enhanced Texas Instruments DLP Cinema™ Dark Metal 3 micromirror
device, which offers 25% higher contrast (1250:1) than the previous TI DLP Cinema™
engine. In addition, the D-Cine Premiere has an exclusive set of advanced
features, including a completely sealed, dust-proof engine, for consistent image
contrast throughout its life and Barco’s proprietary Constant Light Output for
consistent image brightness. In addition, the projector features local and
remote touch-screen projector control options and local and remote (Ethernet)
diagnostics.
“Every major change in an industry’s future begins with a daring act. Boeing
Digital Cinemas’ innovative program is the start of what will be a major change
for the Cinema Industry, one that will open a new world of revenue opportunities
for exhibitors”, said Harry Mathias, Director of Barco Digital Cinema, America.
