SmartJog transmitted the 4K DCP of Paris Je t’aime from Paris to Los Angeles for the digital screening of the movie at ETC
Digital Cinema Lab: now a member of the SmartJog Network
More than 500 people attended the digital screening at the Digital Cinema Lab (ETC) in Hollywood of the movie Paris Je t’Aime on September 20th, which opened the Un Certain Regard section of Cannes Film Festival in May. The screening was jointly organized by the French consortium ISA, led by the CST and ETC at USC. SmartJog provided the secure delivery of the 4K DCP (Digital Cinema Package) to Los Angeles. Éclair Laboratories produced the Digital Intermediate (DI), 4K Master and Digital Cinema Package (DCP).
The event marked the first European movie post produced in 4K. The 2K images were extracted from the 4K file, and English subtitles were overlaid onto the final projected footage in accordance with DCI Specs. A 2K Christie DLP projector and a Doremi server were used to show the film.
The DCP, which was a total of 203 Gigabytes, was transmitted from Paris to Los Angeles using SmartJog’s network. Upon delivery to the SmartJog server, at ETC, the DCP was automatically ingested to the Doremi server by setting up automatic FTP upload presets.
“We were pleased to be part of this presentation organized by ISA and in partnership with our client Éclair Laboratories ” explains Christiane Ducasse, Director of Sales, SmartJog USA, who participated in the Q&A after the screening. “Our customers are currently sending an average of one terabyte of data per working day over our network and we are committed to support the secure distribution of DCPs and their associated keys globally.”
