Dave Monk Appointed as EDCF CEO
EDCF –The European Digital Cinema Forum - has appointed Dave Monk as Chief Executive Officer. For 38 years Dave worked for Texas Instruments being one of the enabling companies of Digital Cinema with its DLP Cinema™ technology. He was Vice President of TI Europe and MD of TI’s UK and Ireland Subsidiaries until his retirement in 2004. For the last two years he has been the producer for IBC ‘s D Cinema Theme Day, he is a technology advisor to the UK’s Film and Television Academy – BAFTA, a BKSTS Council Member and an advisor to the UK National Film Theatre’s Digital Test Bed Project.
Welcoming the opportunity to work with EDCF, Dave Monk said that “EDCF has provided a valuable forum for sharing ideas, issues and requirements in the field of standards and needs. It now needs to ensure that its membership constituency is wholly representative of the cinema business and culture. EDCF needs to carry forward its collective opinions so that it is a valuable and important voice in effecting changes for the benefit of its membership and the cinema going public”.
About European Digital Cinema Forum:
The EDCF is a not-for-profit voluntary organisation that aims to act as a "Forum" to discuss key issues surrounding Digital Cinema in Europe. The purpose of EDCF is to provide a basis of common understanding across all European territories of the business and technical matters of digital cinema. We were established in 2000, before the widespread rollout of digital cinema technology, in order to accompany the rollout and minimise any impact on European cinema, as well as putting forward a European point of view of cinema technology within global standards organisations. Our work has now widened to include all technologies in cinema. Membership is open to any organisation or individual with a genuine interest in furthering the knowledge and understanding of digital cinema.
