Enhanced brightness levels for Barco's 2K digital cinema projectors
High power 6.5 kW lamp fully compatible with installed digital cinema projector base
Digital cinema pioneer Barco is pleased to announce that new high power lamps are available for its high end DP-100 digital cinema projector. Featuring a new 6.5kW lamp from OSRAM, the DP-100 delivers vibrant colors at 22,000 lumens, allowing it to light up even the biggest theater screens. The new 6.5kW DHP lamp, bundling optimum lamp lifetime and increased brightness, is available from January 2007 onwards and is compatible with the installed base of DP-100 projectors.
Chris Colpaert, Barco’s Director of Product Management Digital Cinema stated “Barco has been working very closely with OSRAM to increase the brightness of the DP-100 to this new level. With 22,000 lumens, the DP100 is now able to illuminate large theater screens up to 25 meter (or 82 feet) wide. The new lamp development also addresses the need of the exhibitors who request brighter digital cinema projectors to increase the 3D movie experience.”
As the DP-100 projector was originally designed to house a high power lamp, there is no need to modify the hardware to drive the new 6.5kW DHP lamp in the existing DP-100 installed base. The increased brightness reaffirms Barco’s position as a leader in this field and ensures an enhanced viewing experience for cinema goers.
Recognized as a worldwide reference in Digital Cinema, Barco’s 2k projectors are based on the DLP Cinema® technology of Texas Instruments. Combining the benefits of 2K display resolution, CineBlackTM, CinePalleteTM and CineLinkTM image control, they perfectly answer the demanding needs of the digital cinema industry.
