Lights, Curtains, Sound: New Christie Act Brings Total Control to Theater Automation

Christie, a global leader in visual solutions for entertainment, business, and industry, introduces Christie ACT, a new theater automation controller purpose-built to interface with the latest generation Digital Cinema technology. This sophisticated system makes it easy to automate presentations by translating cues from connected devices to control most theater equipment including lighting, curtains, sound, masking and projectors. It is the ultimate automation solution, enabling customizable control to suit the needs of a single screen, a multiplex facility or an entire theater chain.

Fully manageable through a web interface, Christie ACT allows the user maximum control and flexibility at an affordable price. It can be accessed from any web browser on a networked computer making it easily accessible from a portable handheld computer or laptop. No matter where you are in the building, seamless operation of the theater environment can now be set-up, monitored, and controlled in the palm of your hand.

With its simple, intuitive graphical user interface, even the novice can easily customize tasks and events to suit specific needs. Featuring pre-defined scripts for supporting known devices and eight user programmable buttons on the front panel, customization is simple and quick. Optimized for the Digital Cinema environment, the Christie ACT features a powerful open architecture that can integrate fully with any end user application. It can be configured to control sequencing of all devices that it is connected to, as well as listen for server cues and perform user-specified actions. With general input and output attachments, RS-232, RS-422, USB, and Ethernet connections on the front and back, Christie ACT can adapt to any installation environment. An expansion port for future device support provides flexibility for the future.

“The Christie ACT is a great value proposition, providing exhibitors with a reliable and cost-effective automation solution for many common auditorium functions,” remarked Brian Claypool, senior product manager of Entertainment Solutions, Christie. “It is a powerful device, custom designed to integrate with most end-user applications, including Digital Cinema and 35mm. Christie is committed to providing exhibitors with the best-in-class cinema solutions that include the industry’s highest rated training, service and support.”
