- One-Night-Only Event Taking Place in Boston, Nashville, Dallas
and Fort Worth in Advance of Nationwide Run in the Fall -
The Bigger Picture, an AccessIT (NASDAQ: AIXD) company and a leading provider of alternative entertainment for digitally-equipped movie theatres across the U.S., is debuting a new concert series on June 14, 2007 in advance of a nationwide run in the Fall. The Bigger Picture will introduce the South By Southwest Concert Series in select markets on Thursday, June 14, 2007.
Based on the hugely popular South By Southwest Music Festival that took place in March in Austin, Texas, the concert event will feature performances by break-out indie bands The Polyphonic Spree, Peter Bjorn & John, The Bravery and Rocco Deluca. The show will be screened in Boston, Nashville, Dallas and Fort Worth, with special in-person appearances by The Polyphonic Spree at the Dallas and Fort Worth screenings.
“For music fans this is like being there – but better,” said Greg Rutkowski, Co-President, The Bigger Picture. “Music fans that didn’t get the chance to see these bands play in person at the Festival can now go to their local movie theatre and see them play on the big screen in 2K digital cinema. We will announce the entire Fall series schedule shortly.”
The two-hour concert, shown in stunning digital cinema with 5.1 surround sound, will highlight the four bands’ appearances at the festival, interspersed with exciting behind-the-scenes footage. The movie, which was created by Blaze TV in partnership with DIRECTV, will be shown in the following theatres at 8pm on June 14th. Ticket prices will range from $8.75 to $10.25 depending on the market.
• Boston - Showcase Cinemas Revere (National Amusements)
• Nashville - Thoroughbred 20 (Carmike Theatres)
• Dallas - Magnolia Theatre – West Village (Landmark Theatres)
• Ft. Worth – Rave Ridgmar (Rave Theatres)
The Dallas event will be hosted by Robert Wilonsky, the very popular Arts & Entertainment Writer for the Dallas Observer. Members of the Polyphonic Spree will sign autographs and speak before the screenings in both Dallas and Fort Worth.
The June 14th event will introduce movie-goers to the program in key markets and help to lay the groundwork for a full roll-out later in the year. The upcoming Bigger Picture concert series will include performances from bands such as Razorlight, Ozomatli, Bowling for Soup and Brandi Carlile, for a total of 6 concert programs which will run in digital movie theatres nationwide throughout the Fall.
“The South By South Southwest Concert Series is one of the many added values that theater operators can leverage through digital cinema to capture a new theater audience,” noted Bud Mayo, CEO and founder of AccessIT Mayo.
And Jeremy Devine, VP Marketing for Rave Theatres, the exhibitor debuting the South By Southwest Concert Series in the Fort Worth area, agreed stating, “We’re delighted to be able to offer our audiences new and different forms of programming. We know Rave customers will enjoy this event, and others to come.”
