Nashe Kino Commits Future to Digital Cinema
Christie, a global leader in visual solutions for entertainment, business and industry, announced it has received the commitment of Russian distributor Nashe Kino (“Our Cinema”), the official distributor of the CTB film company, to release future movies in a digital format. The commitment comes in response to recent investment by Russian exhibitors in Christie CP2000 DLP Cinema projectors and what Nashe Kino sees as the future of cinema exhibition throughout Russia and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The announcement was made during Nashe Kino’s 2007-08 projects presentation to an audience of more than 500 industry professionals and exhibitors, during a gala presentation held at the Aurora theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia.
“For the last four years, Nashe Kino has followed a policy of genre variety, author’s cinema and block-buster entertainment to help promote commercially successful movies and much-loved and memorable cinema,” said Irina Bederman, deputy director and director of public relations for Nashe Kino. “Digital Cinema technology clearly enhances the quality of our movies and the audience experience, and it opens up new and exciting opportunities in digital production. We have already released several movies in the Digital Cinema format and the decision to release all new Nashe Kino movies in the Digital Cinema format is the logical extension of our promise to provide great entertainment and great cinema.”
All Nashe Kino future releases will be digitally mastered by Nevafilm Digital Labs.
Commenting on Nashe Kino’s commitment, Dale Miller, vice president of Europe, the Middle East and Africa for Christie said, “Nashe Kino has worked extensively with our partner Nevafilm prior to this announcement, becoming familiar with the Digital Cinema format and what it has to offer. By their high standards, this represents a striking endorsement for Digital Cinema.”
Nashe Kino presentation for 2007-08 includes Antidope, by Vladimir Schegolkov; Russian Game, Pavel Chukhraj; the animated Herculean trilogy; Ilya Muromets and Robber-Nightingale; and the first part of multi-million Euro epic, Mongol.
