Crown DSi Series Gains THX™ Approval
Crown International proudly announces that its entire line of DSi Series amplifiers dedicated for use in cinema sound systems is now fully ‘THX™ Approved’. The DSi Series joins Crown’s current CTs Series and Macro-Tech 02 Series in being recognized by THX Ltd. as amplifier ranges thoroughly tested and deemed appropriate for use in THX Certified Cinemas.

Digital Cinema Power Amplifiers
“The DSi Series marks a true turning point in the advancement of THX approved cinema audio systems as it is the first digitally integrated cinema amplifier that includes the DSP necessary for all loudspeaker processing requirements,” says Stephen Morris, Crown director of marketing for cinema, touring and installed sound. “An abundance of crossover features are built into to the DSi Series and each amplifier includes 20 presets, 15 of which are perfectly matched with JBL Professional’s award-winning ScreenArray® systems. With a DSi powered cinema system, no other THX approved crossovers are required; they’re built in to save time and money and improve the overall performance.”
Comprised of three two-channel amplifier models and an eight-channel system monitor, the DSi Series was engineered from the ground up for unmatched quality and performance in cinema applications. An intuitive front panel LCD guides installers through the process of choosing loudspeaker signal processing presets and other system parameters. Integrated proprietary DSP includes presets for crossover frequencies, EQ filters, delay, and output limiting. Computer connectivity via USB permits fast amplifier setup using the included HiQnet™ System Architect™ software. Rear panel HD-15 connectors provide easy input/output connectivity between the amplifiers and the DSi-8M system monitor, which provides eight channels for pre-amp and post-amp signal monitoring.
DSi Series amplifiers incorporate Crown’s extremely light and efficient switch-mode power supply, and all three 2U models use a 15-amp AC inlet and weigh less than 17 pounds. Power ratings per channel at four ohms are 500W for the DSi 1000, 800W for the DSi 2000, and 1200W for the DSi 4000.
Like all Crown amplifiers, the DSi Series is backed by the manufacturer’s industry-exclusive ‘Three-Year, No-Fault, Fully Transferable Warranty’.
