Suresh Productions and Ramanaidu Studios Adopts Auro 11.1 By Barco Sound Format to Create Immersive Audio for Tollywood Movies

Moviegoers in India’s southeastern state of Andhra Pradesh will soon discover what it means to be truly immersed in sound. A hundred theaters will soon be equipped with Auro 11.1 by Barco, the next-generation three–layer sound technology from Auro Technologies powered by digital cinema pioneer Barco. Two post – production and mixing facilities belonging to Ramanaidu Studios – all collaborating with film production company Suresh Productions – will install the certified Auro-3D® Studio System.

The cinema industry of Andhra Pradesh, also known as Telugu cinema or ‘Tollywood’, is based in Hyderabad. Film production company Suresh Productions – a subsidiary of Ramanaidu Studios – plays a major role within this industry. It has been producing movies for over 50 years and is now one of India’s largest film production companies. The movies of Suresh Productions are about to get even more impressive for audiences, as one hundred theaters in the Andhra Pradesh region will be featuring the Auro 11.1 by Barco immersive sound system. Barco is pulling out all the stops to install the first 25 systems before the year is out, as a number of big titles are being released in the near future.

Auro 11.1 by Barco, developed by Auro Technologies and powered by Barco, offers audiences an enthralling immersive sound experience by reproducing sound on three axes (x,y,z) with 3 layers of sound which create a natural spread of acoustic energy around the whole audience. With ambient sounds coming from all around and above, moviegoers hear the most true-to-life reproduction of sound, creating the most immersive experience as if they are part of the action on screen. As more and more Indian theaters are discovering the merits of high-end sound platforms, the demand for movie titles that are available in Auro 11.1 by Barco immersive sound is also on the rise.

Two Ramanaidu studios incorporate the Auro-3D® Studio System
In order to provide the theaters in Andhra Pradesh – and its audiences – with movies that offer a truly mesmerizing sound immersion, two studios of Ramanaidu will start mixing audio for Tollywood productions using Auro-3D® production tools. Auro-3D® is compatible with speaker layouts from Auro 8.0 up till Auro 22.1 using channel-based as well as object-based technology.

Pioneering in Tollywood
Two postproduction and mixing facilities belonging to Ramanaidu Studios will be certified by Auro Technologies to mix audio for movies that will be released in Andhra Pradesh in Auro 11.1 by Barco. By doing so, Ramanaidu is revolutionizing the cinema industry.

“Ramanaidu Studios is really ahead of the curve by adopting this technology,” said Abel Garamhegyi, Managing Director at Barco India. “The essence of the company has always been in its cutting-edge technology. With Auro 11.1 by Barco, they will stay true to their pioneering spirit, the latest product Auro 11.1 by Barco sound system is trying to reach the perfection which we already achieved in the pictures in the cinemas with the sound. The human being is pretty much driven by both and in the movie theatre it is very important to have that experience as a total impression on the individuals. Auro 11.1 by Barco has the minimum amount of speakers to achieve the maximum amount of reality in a 3 dimensional sound experience and this is why more and more cinemas realize that this is the best investment. The bookings for the  Auro 11.1 version are much higher than the standard 5.1, we really believe that we catch additional audience with this technology and it can be a very powerful tool with the competition that people stay at home and watch their big television set as they can come together and enjoy the overall experience”, added Abel Garamhegyi.

“We are honored that Suresh Productions and Ramanaidu Studios has chosen  the Auro-3D® format” says Wilfried Van Baelen, inventor of the Auro-3D® format and CEO of Auro Technologies. Auro 11.1 by Barco is widely acclaimed as the industry’s most efficient and best immersive cinema audio solution.

Theaters in Andhra Pradesh are ready for Auro 11.1
To allow movie audiences to enjoy the overwhelming immersive sound of movies produced in Auro 11.1, a hundred theaters in Andhra Pradesh will soon be featuring Auro 11.1 by Barco. These theaters will upgrade their 2D sound technology to Barco’s three–layer sound platform, in close collaboration with Suresh Productions, a subsidiary of Ramanaidu studios and Barco India’s Auro deployment partner, M/s Pro Visual Audio Pvt. Ltd, Chennai.

Suresh Babu, Managing Director, Suresh Productions says
“We are incorporating Auro-3D® technology into our expansion plans over the next few years, starting with the installation of Auro 11.1 by Barco in some of our existing theaters. Going forward we will further expand and integrate the cutting-edge cinema sound technology in our theaters to enhance movie viewing experience."

“These systems will turn standard 5.1 cinema audio into a whole new experience for moviegoers,” said Abel Garamhegyi at Barco India. “Almost all of the theaters involved are already equipped with Barco projectors. Combined with Auro 11.1 sound, Suresh Productions can aim for a whole new level of perfection.”
