DTS Launches New Product Line with XD10 Cinema Media Player
New Product Series Will Deliver High Performance For Progressive Cinemas
t ShoWest 2003, DTS (Digital Theater Systems, Inc.) is introducing the XD10 Cinema Media Player, the first product in its new line of products being developed for the future of cinema. Engineered to deliver up to 10 channels of scalable digital surround sound, the XD10 is an expandable, reliable and user-friendly media solution for pre-show and feature film presentation. The XD10 is also compatible with both traditional film playback and emerging Digital Cinema.
Containing an internal hard drive capable of storing up to 30 feature film soundtracks, the XD10 gives distributors and exhibitors the flexibility of storing multiple languages of one title or multiple titles. The product is also capable of playing back enhanced video for alternate media, and has networking and pre-show programming features for an integrated presentation.
The XD10 also offers DTS 96/24 and DTS NEO:6 audio playback: DTS 96/24 presents an unprecedented level of audio quality for multi-channel sound on DVD-Video; DTS Neo:6 takes stereo (two-channel) content and delivers up to six matrixed channels.

Some of the other key benefits and optional features of the XD10 Cinema Media Player include:
• Customizable play list allows theatre managers to rearrange pre-show advertisements or trailers if necessary.
• Trailer and pre-show logging and tracking capabilities benefit advertisers, distributors and exhibitors.
• Optional software upgrades support DTS-CSS (Cinema Subtitling System) Access technology for subtitling, captioning and audio description.
• Supports Special Venue 70mm large format film and ride films in eight-channel playback.
• Capable of storing up to 60 hours of audio/video information for various ride or event films.
• In conjunction with a cinema processor, the XD10 is an all-in-one cinema solution for pre-show and feature film presentation.
