DTS Cinema Division Expands with New Key Executive Roles
Cinema Division Reorganizes Staff / Adds New Positions
DTS, Inc. (Nasdaq: DTSI) announces the
reorganization and expansion of its Cinema Division, with the promotion of
several key staff and the addition of new members of the management team. DTS
has promoted Susie Beiersdorf to Director, Sales, Cinema Products, Michelle
Maddalena to Director, Business Development, Film Licensing, Daniel Schulz to
Manager, Post Production and John Keating to Manager, Studio Services. Bringing
extensive experience in areas of pre-show, E- and D-Cinema, DTS has also hired
Gerald Hensley as Director, Business Development, New Markets, and Ed Zeier as
Director, Cinema Services.
The changes represent DTS' continuing commitment to provide products and
services of the highest quality, and to address new opportunities in the areas
of digital acquisition, distribution and exhibition.
As the newly appointed Director, Sales, Cinema Products, Susie Beiersdorf, a key
member of DTS' Cinema Division since 1995, will direct the efforts of the
company's worldwide cinema sales team. Michelle Maddalena, now Director,
Business Development, Film Licensing, will be responsible for film licensing in
the U.S. and all international territories outside of Europe. A senior DTS post
production manager for a number of years, Daniel Shulz will now assume
leadership of the post production department as Manager, Post Production, and
John Keating will oversee studio services and field service engineers as
Manager, Studio Services.
Gerard Hensley, most recently Strategic Development Director at Avica Technology
Corp., will be responsible for guiding and developing DTS' evolving pre-show, E-
and D-Cinema business as Director, Business Development, New Markets. Before
Avica, Gerald was Development Director for Media.Net, a service provider of
high-speed fiber optic networks with applications for production and
post-production of TV and film content. His background also includes corporate
business development and planning experience for major New Zealand and Latin
American-based corporations. Gerald also brings a solid background in law,
finance and international business, as well as knowledge and understanding of
the D-Cinema and pre-show landscape.
Ed Zeier, formerly in charge of Business Development, North America at Barco
Digital Cinema, will be responsible for managing DTS' studio services and
post-production group as Director, Cinema Services. Prior to Barco, Ed acted as
a consultant for entertainment industry services companies in the areas of
Mergers & Acquisitions strategy, pre- and post-merger integration planning and
implementation, digital asset management, media asset management, D-Cinema and
exhibition distribution security. Before his consulting role, Ed spent 19 years
at Universal Studios in various positions, completing his tenure in the position
of Senior Vice President, Post Production. His experience in opening new
services, establishing key client relationships and his knowledge of the
D-Cinema industry will be invaluable as DTS continues its support of the
industry's transition into the digital arena.
"With the acquisition of Lowry Digital Images and the current deployment of our
XD10 Cinema Media Player for high-definition pre-show networks, DTS is firmly
dedicated to broadening our business to include both audio and image
technologies," said Don Bird, Senior Vice President, Cinema at DTS. "We are
confident that the addition of Gerald and Ed, as well as promotions of some of
the Cinema Division's most experienced people, will help ensure our continuing
success."
