Meyer Sound Launches Cinema Experience Series at ShoWest Las Vegas
Delivering Clarity and Power to Cinema Sound
At ShoWest, the motion picture industry convention to be held in Las Vegas March 31 through April 2, 2009, Meyer Sound will debut its new Cinema Experience line of theatre sound systems designed for applications ranging from sound design suites to dubbing stages and movie theatres.
Designed for optimal performance behind perforated screens, these loudspeaker systems were developed specifically for cinema, in collaboration with top industry creative and technical professionals. Meyer Sound’s Cinema Experience series features screen channel loudspeakers, surrounds, subwoofers, and electronics that work together to deliver remarkable clarity and power and that translate well across a variety of applications. The result is a complete, integrated system that delivers a compelling and rich cinema sound experience.
“In order to compete with expanding entertainment options at home, cinema exhibitors must offer a superior level of sound quality that can excite the audience,” said John Meyer, co-founder and CEO of Meyer Sound. “With new digital soundtracks freed from the limitations of analog reproduction, cinema operators can create heightened experiences by upgrading to the power and transparency of Meyer Sound cinema systems.”
Meyer Sound’s Cinema Experience includes:
· Acheron 100 and Acheron 80: Screen Channel Loudspeakers
· Acheron LF: Bass Loudspeaker
· HMS-10: Cinema Surround Loudspeaker
· X-800C: High-Power Cinema Subwoofer
As with all Meyer Sound loudspeakers, the Cinema Experience series of products are self-powered with built-in power amplifiers optimized for phase and frequency linearity response and featuring protection circuitry tuned to prevent damage to the individual drivers.
In addition to loudspeakers, Meyer Sound offers accurate acoustical prediction with MAPP Online Cinema; real-time system performance data provided by the optional RMS™ remote monitoring system; and calibration and alignment offered by the SIM® 3 audio analyzer. The Galileo™ loudspeaker management system handles signal drive from a theatre’s cinema processor to built-in amplifiers within the self-powered loudspeakers.
Since Meyer Sound introduced the self-powered HD-1 studio monitor in 1989, recording engineers have relied on the extreme accuracy of the company’s technology. Today, Meyer Sound products are deployed in recording studios, sound design suites, and dubbing stages worldwide, including Skywalker Sound and American Zoetrope, where Meyer Sound systems based around the Acheron are being used to mix films. Other Cinema Experience Series installations include the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, ImageMovers Digital, as well as Atkinson Hall at the University of California, San Diego.
Meyer Sound products that are THX approved include: Acheron 80 and 100 screen channel loudspeakers, CQ-1 loudspeaker, UPJ-1P VariO™ loudspeaker, HD-1 studio monitor, and X-800C subwoofer.
