Major Japanese Entertainment Company, Toei, Signs Digital System Agreement with GDC

GDC Technology (“GDC”), a world leading digital cinema solution provider, is pleased to announce today the signing of a digital system agreement with Toei Co., Ltd. (“Toei”), a leading diversified entertainment company in Japan.

Under the non-exclusive agreement, Toei will pay usage fees to GDC. The agreement solely applies to equipment installations carried out before 31 March 2014, and is limited to the territory of Japan.

One of the top producers of films and television shows in Japan, Toei is perhaps most notable for its production of anime—live action, special effects dramas known as totkusatsu.

“The VPF agreement with Toei is of special significance to us as it is among our first series of deals with Japanese distributors,” said Dr. Man-Nang Chong, founder and CEO of GDC Technology. “GDC’s VPF program offers a great opportunity and an ideal cost recoupment model for Japanese exhibitors to undergo digital conversion. We’re extremely happy to have a reputed company such a Toei partner with us.”
