GDC Technology to Unveil DTS:X and DTS:X IAB Audio Capabilities of SR-1000 Standalone Integrated Media Block
GDC Technology Limited (‘GDC’), a leading global provider of digital cinema solutions, announced today it is unveiling two powerful built-in audio processing features of SR-1000 IMB, which were showcased at CinemaCon 2021, the world’s largest convention for the cinema industry, held on August 23 to 26 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The SGS certified SR-1000 IMB is renowned for its ultra-high reliability tested with 100,000 MTBF and for its extensible architecture. From time to time, the model has evolved with powerful built-in future-proof features such as CineCache™ and a 5.1/7.1 surround sound cinema audio processor.
Users of SR-1000 now have the option to bring immersive audio experience to their screens with an upgrade to 16-channel DTS:X immersive sound. Additionally, a new built-in 16-channel cinema audio processor is made available to replace an external cinema audio processor for the 16-channel DTS:X setup. Later in the year, the upgrade will be enhanced to optionally allow the SR-1000 to have upto 24-channels of DTS:X audio solution. These powerful built-in DTS:X solutions were being showcased at CinemaCon 2021. They are a part of the process to roll out DTS:X IAB on GDC’s mainstream IMB. In early 2022, a further upgrade will be available to enable up to 24-channels of built-in DTS:X IAB solution on the SR-1000 IMB.
“We unleashed the power of the SR Series media servers to display 4K 3D motion pictures at 120 frames per second with Flexible Architecture Stable Technology (FAST) in 2019. This year, we unleash the SR-1000’s audio processing capability. With the introduction of 8-channel surround sound cinema processor, to the latest 16-channel and 24-channel DTS:X immersive sound solutions , GDC offers reliable, cost-effective and seamlessly integrated image-audio solutions for cinemas worldwide to playback the filmmaker’s audio and visual intent,” said Dr. Man-Nang Chong, founder, chairman and CEO of GDC Technology Limited. “In this industry and in others, the word game-changing is used often. The SR Series with cinema sound processing continues the company’s passion to constantly improve the movie-going experience.”
With the built-in cinema audio processor option, SR-1000 offers the capability to provide superior sound designed for 5.1, 7.1, 15.1 PCM uncompressed surround sound functionality – the purest digital sound not “contaminated” by compression. The cinema processor license that can be procured remotely from GDC Technology, unlocks the optional built-in cinema audio processor’s features. The embedded robust audio processing engine can achieve precise sound system calibration of the theatre by supporting
• 5.1 / 7.1 / 15.1 audio equalizer (EQ)
• 1/3-octave graphic EQ with independent bass and treble controls (non-LFE channels)
• Parametric EQ (choice of dedicated general LFE settings or SMPTE standard LFE settings)
• 2-way crossover with selectable filter type and configurable slope (5.1/7.1 only)
• Fader (gain adjustment), global and individual channel delay
• Uncompressed audio processing (including LPCM on HDMI input)
• Provides booth monitor output (5.1/7.1 only)
• Built-in signal generator, mute with configurable fade in/fade out times, wide dynamic range
• Audio input level display, easy configuration backup and restore

GDC offers an optional Audio IO (Input-Output) Box AIB-2000 for SR-1000, with a built-in 8-channel premium quality digital-to-analog converter (DAC), to interface with external audio equipment such as analog amplifiers, booth monitor, microphone, and media players. GDC also offers TSAP-16 for up to 16-channel digital-to-analog converter (DAC).
