Filmways Digital Will Be Releasing its “Special Event“ Product to Digital Equipped Cinemas
Filmways Digital, a company originally established as Filmways in 1969, has moved forward into the digital age and will be releasing all of its “Special Event“ product to digital equipped cinemas enabling some of the previously unaffordable live theatre shows and special events to be seen is cinemas around the world at a very affordable ticket price.
Robert Ward and Neil Harrold of Filmways have formed alliances with a number of producers and production companies which include JDN Productions, Harvey Goldsmith, ATA, Famous Artists and JDL Films. They have developed after much research and time a process for accurately capturing events and live theatre shows in the highest resolution digital imaging along with completely uncompressed digital sound and are able to reproduce these images either live or delayed on to the largest cinema screens.
This new process has involved special research into cameras lens and equipment which can now capture performances originally produced for the live theatre with soft delicate lighting effects and place them on to the cinema screen.
Many patrons over many years have been attending live theatre shows and if you were not able to afford the best and most expensive seats you ended up missing the shows visual intimacy and with concerts watching most of the show on the LED screens provided by the promoter which are low quality images and usually not very large especially if you are in a sports stadium watching from the rear seats.
Seeing these special events in a new modern cinema equipped with the latest digital equipment produces a pristine image that you can view every detail similar to sitting in the front row of a concert or show, and if you happen to live in a regional city a long way from the big capital cities you can see with the same quality and on the same date shows that would normally never appear in regional areas.
Patrons who have attended some of the performances are raving about the detail they are now seeing in a live production that they have never been able to enjoy before, in some cases the cameras go “Backstage” to bring to the audiences extra items of interest which adds value to the performance.
Filmways Digital current release in Australia and New Zealand is a special concert that has just recently taken place in the World Heritage site of Petra In Jordan "TheTribute To Pavarotti” given by many of his peers including Placido Domingo, Andre Boccelli, Sting, in front of an invited audience which included Pavarotti’s Widow and the Queen and Princess of Jordan. This special event concert will be performed in the digital cinemas for a limited season world wide.
The next major release will be “The Merchants of Bollywood “ the hit stage musical that is in its second year touring UK and Europe and 2009 sees it tour Asia and in 2010 it will tour North America, was captured live on stage at The Tivoli Theatre in Barcelona and will shortly be released in digital cinemas worldwide, this will be followed by “The Bar at Buena Vista” featuring fabulous Cuban Music and Dance, a live show that has been hugely successful for the past 6 years .
