NEC Display Solutions Adds Digital Cinema Portfolio to Award-Winning Line of Products
This Move Enhances NEC Display’s Product Offering and Strengthens its Commitment to Service Partners and Exhibitors
NEC Display Solutions of America, a leading provider of commercial LCD displays and projectors, announced today that the Digital Cinema Division of NEC Corporation of America will be integrated into its display business, effective July 1, 2009.
The transaction broadens NEC Display Solutions’ award-winning product portfolio of displays and projectors while offering loyal NEC exhibitor, studio and post production customers a complete set of display solutions with streamlined customer support and greatly enhanced sales coverage. NEC Display Solutions is further aligning itself with the company’s other display business units worldwide by supporting the same business structure and having the Digital Cinema group fall under NEC Display Solutions’ umbrella.
“This transition better supports our current and future business plans while strengthening our global strategy,” said Pierre Richer, President and C.O.O. of NEC Display Solutions. “NEC’s digital cinema projectors have a reputation for the highest quality and innovation, serving some of the largest theatre chains, studios and post production houses in North America. We welcome the opportunity to grow our presence in the exhibitor community not only with digital cinema projectors, but additional offerings and technologies as well.”
The logical shift of the Digital Cinema Division to NEC Display Solutions is part of NEC Corporation of America’s strategy to focus its full resources on supporting and growing its IT and network solutions business. The company offers a complete portfolio of end-to-end technology solutions and professional services ranging from unified communications, wireless, voice, data and managed network services to dynamic IT infrastructure products and services ideal for virtualization, consolidation and data management initiatives, to biometric security, and optical network, and microwave radio communications systems.
“Joining the digital cinema portfolio with NEC Display Solutions’ projector and display offerings brings tremendous synergies and business advantages to NEC,” said Jim Reisteter, General Manager of NEC Corporation of America, Digital Cinema Division. “This is great news for exhibitors, studios and post production companies and our channel partners who serve these customers. This change is definitely in the best interest of customers and all stakeholders. The move also reinforces NEC’s commitment to provide the most innovative products and responsive customer care in the industry. We remain committed to the partners who have served us well in the digital cinema market, particularly with Ballantyne of Omaha, our master reseller for the exhibitor segment of our business.”
