Gary Weaver of The Walt Disney Studios to Receive Inter-Society’s 2010 Ken Mason Award at ShoWest 2010
he Inter-Society for the Enhancement of Cinema Presentation, Inc. (the Inter-Society) announced today that Gary Weaver, Senior Vice President of Administration, Walt Disney Studio Motion Pictures, will receive the Inter-Society’s 2010 Ken Mason Award at ShoWest to be held March 15-18, at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. The award, named after the Inter-Society’s founder, will be presented to Weaver, during the opening day breakfast ceremony by Mark Christiansen, Executive Vice President of Domestic Theatrical Distribution Operations, Paramount Pictures and the President of the Inter-Society.
Presented yearly at ShoWest since 1995, the Ken Mason award honors an individual who has made outstanding and long-term contributions leading to the overall improvement of the motion picture experience. Some of the previous recipients include: Ken Mason, Barry Reardon, Al Shapiro, Bud Stone, Ioan Allen and Mark Christiansen.
“Gary Weaver and the team at The Walt Disney Studios have been leaders in the improvement of print quality and cinema presentation. He spearheaded innovative programs with recent Pixar titles and provided technical tips to projectionists. I salute Gary for his long history of supporting quality motion picture exhibition”, said Mr. Christiansen.
Gary Weaver is a 38-year veteran of the Walt Disney Company. Starting at the age of 18 as a summer employee at Disneyland, Weaver transitioned to The Walt Disney Studios employee relations department, and then joined Buena Vista Pictures Distribution. As Senior Vice President of Administration for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Domestic Distribution, Weaver has been a driving force in implementing many of Disney’s new technologies and quality enhancement programs.
