John Meyer to discuss importance of audio in 3D cinema on industry panel
eyer Sound, a leading designer and manufacturer of self-powered loudspeakers, has been named official sponsor, conference audio provider of the 3rd annual 3D Entertainment Summit(tm) produced by Unicomm, Inc. and The Bob Dowling Group and presented in association with Variety, September 15-16, 2010 at the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City, Calif.
The 3D Summit brings together key players and influencers to engage, debate and define the latest developments in the 3D marketplace. Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation SKG, writer-director M. Night Shyamalan ("The Last Airbender"; "The Sixth Sense") and Chris Cookson, president of Sony Pictures Technologies, will be keynoting the conference.
As official audio provider, Meyer Sound will supply its state-of-the-art, high definition Cinema Experience sound system to the 3D Entertainment Summit(tm). Designed specifically for cinema, the scalable system delivers remarkable clarity and power. From sound design and dubbing through to exhibition, Meyer Sound Cinema Experience systems provide a consistent, linear platform that reproduce soundtracks that translate consistently from theater to theater.
The 3D Entertainment Summit is committed to showcasing the latest trends in technology for it's select audience of influential entertainment executives," said Summit co-producer Bob Dowling. "We are excited to feature Meyer Sound's Cinema Experience sound system to complement the latest in 3D visual technology being presented."
Meyer Sound CEO and co-founder, John Meyer, will participate on a panel discussion on The Drivers in Theatrical: The State of the 3D Exhibition Business at 1:35pm on Wednesday, September 15th in the main auditorium. The panel, to be moderated by Richard Verrier of The Los Angeles Times, will examine the impact and effects 3D cinema is having on exhibitors as well as look at the new and emerging alternative content offered in 3D that can help increase ticket sales.
"Compelling audio is an important element to creating the illusion of depth, and Meyer Sound provides a complete system for creating the ideal 3D sound field," said Steve Shurtz, technology director for the Cinema Experience. "As the 3D Entertainment Summit gathers the brightest minds in the industry, the Meyer Sound Cinema Experience will ensure pristine sonic experience for all conference attendees. "
Meyer Sound's audio technology has caught the attention of some of the best-trained ears in the entertainment industry including Richard King ("The Prestige"; "The Dark Knight"), Walter Murch ("Apocalypse Now"; "The English Patient"; "The Conversation") and Craig Berkey ("I am Legend"; "No Country for Old Men"). Key players in film post-production such as Francis Ford Coppola's American Zoetrope, Skywalker Sound, ImageMovers Digital, as well as London's De Lane Lea have all switched to Meyer Sound systems for its audio transparency and precision, which are critical to movie sound.
