More2Screen is delighted to announce the overwhelming success of the first ever Japanese live cinema relay to territories outside Japan with the L'Arc~en~Ciel 20th Anniversary Live Concert which screened at cinemas in New York, Paris and London on 29 May 2011.
L'Arc~en~Ciel is considered one of the most influential Japanese bands in history with record sales in the millions. This anniversary celebration produced by Amuse/Maverick, reached out to their fan base worldwide with a groundbreaking live broadcast from the Ajinomoto Stadium in Japan to the Apollo Cinema, London, Cinéma MEGA CGR Torcy, Paris and BIG Cinema Manhattan, New York, in addition to cinemas in Japan, Seoul, Taipei and Hong Kong. All three cinemas were sold out in advance of the broadcast. Some of the proceeds from the live cinema screenings will be donated to the relief effort helping those who have suffered from the effects of the earthquake in Japan.
More2Screen has an enviable track record in bringing a wide range of live and recorded alternative content to the cinema screen, from more than 18 live opera and concert broadcasts to event films, music documentaries and educational features.
The company has been responsible for a number of ‘firsts’; including the firstever live concert broadcast in high-definition with Robbie Williams in 2005, broadcasting the world’s first live 3D opera to cinemas with ENO’S Lucrezia Borgia in February 2011 and distributing the world’s first 3D ballet, Mariinsky’s Giselle, to cinemas worldwide over the past 3 months.
