The Inter-Society for the Enhancement of Cinema Presentation, Inc. promotes interactive dialogue and information exchange between cinema-related entities with the goal of resolving issues affecting the overall cinema presentation. Founded in 1978 by Eastman Kodak VP Ken Mason, membership is composed of its four charter trade organizations - International Cinema Technology Association (ICTA), the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO), and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) - along with over 40 member companies, made up of trade organizations, motion picture studios, exhibition companies, manufacturers, technical consultants, and other industry stakeholders.
 




For more than a century, the people of SMPTE (pronounced “simp-tee”) have sorted out the details of many significant advances in media and entertainment technology, from the introduction of “talkies” and color television to HD and UHD (4K, 8K) TV. The International Cinema Technology Association is a global network of professionals in the motion picture industry. Arqiva Reaches Digital Cinema Milestone

100th feature film delivered by Arqiva’s Digital Cinema Satellite Distribution System
Arqiva has delivered its 100th full-length feature film via its Digital Cinema Satellite Distribution System.  The Hollywood blockbuster Digital Cinema Package (DCP) was delivered via the IS905 satellite to Arqiva’s network which connects cinemas across Europe.
 
Marco Tinnirello, Head of Digital Cinema at Arqiva, said: “Arqiva is an industry leader, pioneering the electronic delivery of cinema content via satellite.  Our proven satellite-based delivery platform on IS905 offers studios and exhibitors significant cost savings as well as simplicity, speed and security.  This powerful combination has led to an ever increasing uptake and the roll-out of our network across Europe; we are now delivering at least ten full-length feature films to hundreds of cinemas every month.  This makes the one hundred mark a clear indicator of the huge momentum our network has gathered and the tremendous potential for Digital Cinema in the years ahead.”
