QSC Audio Products, LLC, announces the release of DCPConnect, a powerful iOS application for controlling audio systems in Cinemas.DCPConnect, now available for free download in the iTunes App Store and Android Marketplace online, turns an iPhone or iPod Touch into a powerful cinema remote control device. Along with volume, mute and audio preset control, the DCPConnect application turns DCA Cinema Amplifiers on and off and monitors the entire system for issues – such as amplifier clipping or overheating and open or shorted loudspeaker loads. Control presets allow the use of relays in the DCP Digital Cinema Processor and DXP Digital Expansion Processor to control external devices like masking and curtain motors and dimmers.
The iOS device connects to the DCP's via Ethernet and standard Wi-Fi routers. Password protection and IP addressing ensure control is limited to authorized devices. The DCPConnect system is very well suited to "boothless" theatres since theatre personnel do not need to physically access the equipment for daily operation and for troubleshooting in case of problems.
QSC's advanced DataPort connection between the DCP or DXP and DCA amplifiers allows monitoring of amplifier and loudspeaker loads via the new application.
The DCPConnect iOS application may be downloaded by searching for "DCPConnect" in the iTunes App store. Android users may download their version of DCPConnect, release earlier this year, from the Android Marketplace.
