Cinetopia, Christie/AIX Bring Digital Cinema to the Nation’s Northwest
Digital Technology Will Enhance The Cinetopia Experience
Access Integrated Technologies, Inc.
(“AccessIT”) (AMEX: AIX) underscoring its commitment to both large and small
movie exhibitors across the country, today announced the company’s Christie/AIX
unit will install state-of-the-art digital delivery, 2K projection and
management systems for all eight of the screens at the Cinetopia (www.cinetopiatheaters.com)
Theater Complex in Vancouver, Washington, a suburb of Portland, Oregon.
Installation is expected to be completed in May, 2006.
The Cinetopia is one of the area’s premier film entertainment venues offering
patrons unique, premium-priced features including extra-wide grand auditorium
rows for enhanced comfort, extra-wide leather seating, advanced high-definition
projection, and Klipsch audio equipment. Other amenities include live pre-show
music, three unique “living room” theaters offering a private, skybox-like
experience, a restaurant, wine bar with indoor and tropical garden seating, and
art gallery. In addition, the complex houses a state-of-the-art business
conferencing and meeting facility for private events and affairs.
“We recognized long ago the opportunity and value of delivering a unique,
high-quality entertainment experience to patrons. Cinetopia has dedicated itself
to providing customers with an experience that goes beyond the traditional - one
they have now come to expect and one that keeps our audiences returning time and
again,” commented Rudyard Coltman, President of Cinetopia LLC. “Digital cinema
is a key enabler for us, providing the flexibility to continue this tradition by
expanding our offerings to further differentiate the Cinetopia experience.
Christie/AIX is clearly the leader in helping exhibitors adopt digital cinema,
having demonstrated their expertise with market-proven technology and
multiplex-wide deployments. We are confident in Christie/AIX’s ability to
complete these installations and look forward to employing our 2K digital
systems, including Christie DLP Cinema® projectors for both feature films and an
increasingly wide variety of new forms of alternative content.”
Chuck Goldwater, president and chief operating officer of Christie/AIX, said:
“We are pleased to add Cinetopia to our growing list of diverse exhibitor
partners which now includes Carmike, a major national circuit, and UltraStar and
Emagine, two leading regional independents. As AccessIT has demonstrated at its
own Pavilion Digital Showcase Theatre in New York, digital cinema is an
invaluable tool for innovative, entrepreneurial exhibitors seeking to convert
movie houses into entertainment destinations that add a new dimension to the
movie-going experience. We remain committed to serving the full spectrum of the
motion picture exhibitor community - from large to small – in towns and cities
across the entire United States. Our negotiations with other theatre chains of
all sizes are progressing well.”
AccessIT's Christie/AIX unit serves as the funding vehicle and administrator for
the company's 4,000-screen digital cinema rollout plan expanded significantly
from the total originally announced in June 2005. Christie/AIX will act as the
financing intermediary between content-owners -- major studios and independent
distributors, among others -- and exhibitors who will receive turnkey Digital
Cinema systems that conform with the DCI Technical Specification, including
Christie DLP Cinema® projectors and related hardware and software.
